According to our Wireless Device Strategies (WDS) service, Samsung shipped 93 million mobile phones worldwide in Q2 2012. Its 26% annual growth rate was well above the industry average of 1% during the quarter. Its mobile phone revenues have  surged to record levels. The Galaxy smartphone sub-brand is proving wildly popular in dozens of countries around the globe, such as China and Germany. Yet, despite the impressive overall performance, Samsung’s marketshare of the high-volume feature phone market continues to decline. The vendor is losing ground to a resurgent Nokia and this will need to be addressed before it becomes a problem for Samsung and its many component supply partners.
