The French mobile phone market grew by +10% year-on-year in the first quarter of 2012, which was an improvement on the previous quarter’s decline of -3%. Among the factors boosting the growth of the French handset market, in spite of the snowballing European sovereign debt crisis, were a surprisingly robust performance from Nokia and the arrival of a fourth mobile operator -- Free Mobile.
