Vodafone Greece has launched two new data roaming plans aimed at Vodafone Mobile Broadband business subscribers. The new plans have been named Monthly Light and Monthly Medium; the plans are available at EUR36.3 and EUR 61.0082 (VAT included). The plans include 25MB and 50MB respectively, which can be used while roaming across networks in the European cone or with the Worldwide partners. Customers that go over the respective limit pay the same data roaming charges as Vodafone Mobile Broadband subscribers who do not subscribe to any specific data roaming services. The UK based operators TalkTalk and Sky have informed their customers that they are going to change the daytime rate time lasting to 6pm until 7pm. BT already made this change in April. This change will take place from June. According to comparison website uSwitch, eight million people make most of their calls between 6pm and 7pm. A Virgin Media spokesperson said that there were no plans for Virgin to follow suit and change their off peak times. As of the 15th of June Vodafone will offer new roaming rates. Furthermore, it is to extend its Vodafone Passport service to South Africa during the months of June and July. Customers will pay £1 per MB for the first 5 MBs in Europe and £3 per MB for the first 5MB in the rest of the world. Furthermore, customers abroad will also receive a free real-time text alert each time they are about to reach the end of the data allowance. Customers travelling to South Africa in June and July will benefit from a special Vodafone Passport promotion. Connection charge will be £0.75 and normal UK rates apply. PAYG customers, that have either inclusive minutes or Vodafone Freedom pack minutes, will have the cost of the call taken from these. Texts cost a flat rate of £0.11. Vodafone has simplified charges into four zones: Europe, Asia Pacific, North America and the Rest of the World. Telenor Sweden has launched a new mobile broadband package aimed at 3G subscribers “Mobilt Bredband FastPrist Premium” who wish to upgrade to LTE (Long Term Evolution) when it becomes available. Initial download speeds offered are 10Mbps but this will automatically upgrade to 16Mbps as soon as Telenor deploys its new LTE network. Monthly rental for the new tariff is SEK 249 and includes a Huawei E1820 modem, which can handle both 3G and LTE speeds. Furthermore, customers must sign up for a 24 month contract and is available to both residential and business customers. No fixed date has been set for the launch of the new network. O2 UK today made its new Home Phone service available to new and existing O2 Broadband customers. O2 is offering two Home Phone packages • Evening and Weekend package at £9.50 – includes unlimited evening and weekend calls to UK landlines • Anytime package at £12.50 – includes unlimited anytime calls to UK landlines, 0845 and 0870 numbers; as well as unlimited landline calls to over 20 international landline destinations • Customers can also purchase Bolt On services such as such as call divert, caller display, call waiting and call barring. The Bolt On services are available as pay monthly, pay as you go and in packages with various formations. O2 UK only offers the Home Phone services to customers that either have or take their broadband services; furthermore, a BT landline is required. The US operator AT&T has released the official pricing for international data plans for the iPad. The operator is offering 4 Data Global Add-On packages with usage available within over 90 countries. Customers can buy these plans directly from their iPad’s cellular data settings pane on a month-by-month basis. • $24.99/month: 20 MB Data Global Add-On gives you 20 MB of usage • $59.99/month: 50 MB Data Global Add-On gives you 50 MB of usage • $119.99/month: 100 MB Data Global Add-On gives you 100 MB of usage • $199.99/month: 200 MB Data Global Add-On gives you 200 MB of usage The plans are not renewed automatically each month; therefore, customers have to buy the plans again each month. 02 UK is accepting registrations for its new Home Phone voice and line rental services and broadband bundle. According to a spokesperson from O2 UK, the Home Phone services are being sold to customers who have registered on the O2 website. The service is being offered to customers who are coming to the end of their broadband services. An actual date for the full blown launch has not been set but is expected in the near future.
